I've created the google-domains tag and updated the question you specifically linked to. If you know of others feel free to edit them accordingly.

Thanks for bringing this up, there's a lot of merit to this given the large number of views for this question (currently greater than 154K) and the points you've made here. I agree with number 1 and 2, and also to this part of number 3 (if the OP is willing): a new comprehensive answer-post should be created and accepted by the OP. I also agree with ...

I agree. I think we should merge them and use social-media as the canonical tag. They are essentially the same thing, especially with the context of how they are used on this site.

A while back I had proposed some clarifications to the What topics can I ask about here? page here so that users would be clearer on things and less questions might end up on-hold. Only the last bullet item there has since been implemented here to avoid further confusion on the site, while the others were not due to being unclear as to whether a consensus ...

Finally, a no-brainer :-) Good catch! It's renamed now. Here's a discussion about how to rename a tag on Stack Exchange's Meta site. It requires a moderator to do, so you did the right thing by opening up a Meta discussion about it.

It is time to make the change. google-search-console should now be the canonical tag. One of the criteria brought up last time was which is used more. "search console" 50 uses since November 30th. "webmaster tools" 50 uses since October 27th. In other words, "search console" is used in questions about 25 times per month and "webmaster tools" is used ...

rel-canonical is a specific type of canonical implementation. It uses a meta tag. The other implementation for canonical URLs is 301 redirects. I'd keep rel-canonical separate from the others. I have written a tag wiki for rel-canonical. canonical and canonical-url are probably similar enough to merge on this site. There could be canonical things ...

I agree that this tag synonym should be created. We'll do it in a few days unless other people disagree. Edit: The tag merge and synonym creation has been completed.

Creating a tag synonym and merging the tags seems like the right thing to do to me. This does appear to be an official change. The website piwik.org redirects StackOverflow has already made a similar tag change The tag synonym and move has now been completed. I've also edited the tag wiki to reflect the new name.

Orthaganal to Dan's changes, I suggest we change the following: "Questions here are commonly about" to "Questions here are about various aspects of owning, running, or administering your own website, such as:" Then remove the sentence: "This site is for anything that relates to owning, running, or administering your own website.&...

My two-cents would be to combine website-design and web-design, but leave the others separate.

I apologize for the delay in fixing this. In the end, it turned out that we were, in fact, missing one line of code and CSS variables weren't being generated correctly. Thanks for the report and the diagnosis!

It's appearing with two downvotes in the Top Questions list for me (as of now). The question was flagged as "very low quality", so once I accepted that, the Community User (the system) automatically downvoted it per the user's flag. Maybe you're seeing something different because you or someone else downvoted it after clicking on the link to the Top ...

All three of these tags are synonyms and should be merged. web-crawlers has the most usage and would be my preferred canonical tag name. The tag wiki from robots could be used for it.

We could update it to (in alphabetical order): Content management systems (CMSs) -- There are specific Stack Exchange sites for several CMSs. Use those sites for Craft CMS, Drupal, Expression Engine, Joomla, Magento, Salesforce, SharePoint, Tridion, or WordPress. Questions about other CMSs may be asked here on Pro Webmasters.

This is done, however - there's no default style. You'll need to specify as you use it. We've also enabled this on the Unix related sites, Super User, etc - where questions sometimes have a smidgen of code that has to be shown. Active both on the main site and on meta (for questions about formatting). Note, code related questions are off-topic, but ...

"stylesheet" should be a synonym for "css"

Personally I would favor just responsive over responsive-webdesign since this isn't a broad term and most people associate the word responsive with website design in any case and it would be more favorable in my honest opinion to have people tagging both website-design and responsive at the same time rather than one or the other since both are related and ...

Moderators can perform tag merges. I have done so in this case because it is so straightforward.

2

These tags mean essentially the same thing and should be merged. legal should be the canonical tag because it is used more often.

Goodness. I saw this on the election page and mistakenly thought the former moderator had passed away. The new image is much more clear. Let's get it done.

2

The election graphic has been changed. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

The two are similar enough to merge. I would prefer to merge serps into search-results because the former is jargon and the latter is likely to more widely understood.

The recommendations made so far are excellent! I would like to make a few recommendations that may help. Under "What topics can I ask about here?", the sentence "Questions here are commonly about" could be expanded to "Questions here are commonly about but not limited to" Under "What topics can I ask about here?", the list is short, fuzzy, and broad and ...

Those tags mean the same thing and should be merged. "tags" is shorter, so it should be the canonical.

While Doubleclick as a company had more than just a ad server product, the usage of the "doubleclick" tag on this site refers to DFP in every case. These tags should be merged into "google-dfp".

Missed this one... My preference would have been to leave advertising, which is the practice, and ads, which are the elements, as separate tags. Not sure if this can be reversed at this point however.

1

These tags mean basically the same thing and should be merged. The canonical tag should be "advertising" because it is used more and because "ads" is a short form of it.
